We're Renegade Brewing Co. — an independent brewery and taproom built inside an old glass factory in Sydenham, Ōtautahi.
Our space has been crafted with a "built, not bought" attitude, creating a North American-inspired taproom where the brewery is at the heart of the experience. Surrounded by the brewhouse, fermenters and tanks, you'll be drinking right where it's all brewed.
We create bold, flavour-driven beers with a rebellious streak, alongside a growing range of house-made drinks. From crisp lagers and classic ales to unapologetically hoppy IPAs, refreshing lemonades, kombucha and small-batch seasonal releases, everything we produce is brewed with the same focus on quality, flavour and character.
As an independent, owner-operated brewery, you'll always be welcomed by the people who built Renegade and the small team who help bring it to life each week. Renegade is relaxed, welcoming and unpretentious — a place for all to enjoy a drink.
We're open Wednesday to Sunday.

Our address is Unit 2 105 Orbell St, Sydenham and you'll find the doors to the taproom just around the corner on Disraeli St.

The OG Renegade duo, Thomas and Amy, are bringing Renegade Brewing Co to a reality. The North American meets Kiwi pairing believe that if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Whatever that may be. Previously, that has been the combination of travelling, adventure seeking and brewing which proved to be the winning formula to living life through your 20's. Now the adventure is family living, and the massive undertaking of building a dream nail by nail, brew by brew to create a fun and vibrant brewery, taproom and workspace.
Amy met Thomas at the University of Canterbury in 2010 as an exchange student from the USA, where Thomas was years into homebrewing already. Thomas started brewing and sharing his creations with friends and family. From using our beautiful Christchurch tap water to some epic brews using buckets of water from Lake Wakatipu, along to winning the local homebrew competition at Crazy Mountain Brewery, in Colorado, USA. This ultimately led him to start brewing professionally in 2015. Work hard and play hard is the renegade spirit. This goal of surrounding yourself with good people and good beer has led us to working in some amazing places, and it is those people, places and experiences over the last 15 years which are displayed at Renegade Brewing Co.
These are the breweries that we have worked in that have made us who we are:
And now the Renegade adventure has begun.
