We are building Ōtautahi's wildest new brewery and taproom.
The space is being handcrafted within an old glass manufacturing building in the Sydenham industrial area. We are going with a 'built not bought' vibe where the space represents the materials and feel of a real working brew bar.
Here you will be surrounded by the tanks and brewing equipment where your new favourite drinks are crafted. What we offer will be bold and full of attitude, encompassing the rebellious renegade spirit. We strive to have a place where we can tell our story and encourage you to tell yours as well.
We're open Wednesday to Sunday.
Chuck your email below to get notified of upcoming events:
Our address is Unit 2 105 Orbell St, Sydenham and you'll find the doors to the taproom just around the corner on Disraeli St.
Hops: Wai-iti
Ultra pale, ultra refreshing, ultra low carb lager. Extremely delicate, crisp, light bodied, super dry finishing clean and refreshing. A fresh, light note of lemon zest from the NZ Wai-iti hop.
Hops: Riwaka, Centennial & Waimea
This rich, deep, amber coloured West Coast IPA oozes with resinous and dank NZ and US hops. A big malty base with a bold hop character and a firm bitterness.

Mega hoppy & mega juicy. Super fresh, juicy tropical fruit flavours from NZ and US hops. Grape, citrus lime, stone fruit and tropical aromas.
Hops: Moutere, Waimea & Mosaic
Refreshing and easy drinking sessionable Extra Pale Ale. Fresh and vibrant mix of zesty NZ hops along with the powerhouse US Mosaic for a big burst of tropical mango and pine.
A crisp, no-nonsense cider that lets the apples do the talking, clean, honest, and refreshing. Finishing with a touch of orchard sweetness, like biting into a sun-warmed apple straight from the tree.
A non-alcoholic hop water that is bright, crisp and bursting with citrus character from freshly squeezed and added lemon and lime juice. Subtle herbal and floral notes from hops, lightly sparkling and ultra refreshing. Zero alcohol, zero carbs, zero sugar, zero gluten.
Hops: Chinook, Simcoe & Centennial
Black in colour, but this mind bending IPA is bursting with citrus and pine notes from the dank, resinous US hops. Whispers of cola and toast, smooth and balanced.
A hazy, golden milkshake IPA, brewed with lush mango, coconut and a touch of cardamon. Tangy and creamy decadence of a mango lassi.
Hops: Mosaic & Motueka
Bright, zesty, full of character, this sour iPA bursts with tart refreshment. A kettle sour delivering a lively and mouth watering acidity that’s clean and snappy from the Mosaic and Motueka hops.
A non-alcoholic, zesty kombucha. Brewed from a blend of green, black, lemon and ginger teas, this kombucha pours a blush pink, and leaves your tongue tingling with stonefruit and lush, tangy flavours.
Hops: Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Wai-iti
Punchy and expressive. Nelson Sauvin leads with lifted white grape and gooseberry, supported by Motueka’s zesty lime and lemon peel. Wai-iti rounds things out with soft stonefruit and gentle floral notes.
A bright and refreshing Belgian style Wit Bier. Subtle spice and bubblegum notes, yeast driven fruitiness and a creamy wheat body. A Renegade classic.
Hops: Wai-iti & Riwaka
A classic NZ Pilsner. Bursting with notes of tropical citrus, zesty lime, passionfruit and gooseberry. Pale gold, bright and effervescent.
The Renegade Ordinary Dark pours a deep black with a smooth tan head, delivering "roasty" aromas, coffee, cocoa and a touch of toasted malt. Balanced bitterness, subtle sweetness.
Hops: Monterey, Kohatu & Wai-iti
Smooth dessert-like layers of creamy vanilla, lactose sweetness and fresh raspberries on the back of a boldly hopped hazy IPA. A daring fusion.
Hops: Green Bullet & Chinook
Currently not on tap. A collaboration with BEERS. A modern Belgian IPA that balances fruity hops with traditional Belgian yeast expression. Vibrant golden malt sweetness leads into modest but expressive hops from the New World, The Monk Bear.
Hops: Nectaron & Simcoe
Currently not on tap. A bright, golden APA brewed with a uniquely Kiwi twist. Bursting with tropical aromatics, lush stone fruit, pineapple and passionfruit from the Nectaron and citrus zest and subtle resin from the Simcoe.
Hops: Hellertau Tradition, Tettanger, Motueka & Wai-iti
Currently not on tap. True to the spirit of Oktoberfest, this golden lager is easy-drinking yet full of character. Traditional German hops set the stage, while a subtle New Zealand touch gives ReneBräu its own rebellious edge. Perfect for raising a stein in celebration.
Meet your new Milkshake IPA crush. Peach Bae is a smooth, juicy explosion of tropical fruit and creamy sweetness. Waves of ripe peach, passionfruit, lime, coconut and mango swirl together in a soft, velvety body, thanks to a generous hit of lactose and vanilla.
Hops: Waimea, Motueka, Mosaic & Nectaron
Bursting with sunshine and juiciness. The aromas leap from the glass of fresh-squeezed orange, lime zest and ripe stone fruit from the blend of US and NZ hops.
Hops: Taiheke & Motueka
A clean and easy drinking unfiltered pale ale. Bright golden blonde with subtle floral and herbal undertones presents a nostalgic nod to old-school American Pale Ales.

The OG Renegade duo, Thomas and Amy, are bringing Renegade Brewing Co to a reality. The North American meets Kiwi pairing believe that if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Whatever that may be. Previously, that has been the combination of travelling, adventure seeking and brewing which proved to be the winning formula to living life through your 20's. Now the adventure is family living, and the massive undertaking of building a dream nail by nail, brew by brew to create a fun and vibrant brewery, taproom and workspace.
Amy met Thomas at the University of Canterbury in 2010 as an exchange student from the USA, where Thomas was years into homebrewing already. Thomas started brewing and sharing his creations with friends and family. From using our beautiful Christchurch tap water to some epic brews using buckets of water from Lake Wakatipu, along to winning the local homebrew competition at Crazy Mountain Brewery, in Colorado, USA. This ultimately led him to start brewing professionally in 2015. Work hard and play hard is the renegade spirit. This goal of surrounding yourself with good people and good beer has led us to working in some amazing places, and it is those people, places and experiences over the last 15 years which are displayed at Renegade Brewing Co.
These are the breweries that we have worked in that have made us who we are:
And now the Renegade adventure has begun.
